After a sixth place finish at Brockville Speedway last week, Lee Gill was looking to get back into the top five, and contend for his third win of the season this past Saturday night, and more importantly try and extend his point lead as he battles for his fifth career Brockville Speedway track title.
With a third place starting spot in the qualifier, Gill quickly worked his way to second and challenged for the lead. On the final lap of the race, Gill was side by side, finishing the race in second. In the 30 lap main event, Lee started from the sixth position and quickly moved to third before the first caution on lap six. On the ensuing restart he moved to second place briefly before settling into third place for the remainder of the race.
“The car was good, just not quite strong enough for the win”, commented Gill after the race. “It was a good points night, and that is what we need over the final three weeks of the season”.
With a third place finish, and his nearest competitor in the championship battle finishing outside the top five, Gill will carry a 30 point lead going into next weekend.
This coming Saturday night, Lee Gill will return to Brockville Ontario Speedway looking to continue his strong season. Gill will be looking for his 3rd win of the year, and will be trying to add to his current point lead in the battle for the 2013 Brockville Ontario Speedway Modified Track Championship.
