The long grind of the 2013 season will come to and end this coming Saturday night as Lee Gill looks to capture his fifth career Brockville Speedway track championship. Gill will carry a 20 point advantage heading into the final points night at Brockville this Saturday night.
This past week, Gill began the night with a third place finish in his qualifying heat race after starting from the rear of the field. In the 30 lap main event, Gill started from the 13th starting spot, and struggled early in the event, maintaining that same position through the opening 20 laps. Over the final 10 circuits, Gill was able to advance to ninth place.
“It certainly was not the finish we had wanted tonight, and we gave up a few points, but we are confident that we will finish strong next week”, says Gill after the race. “This one is over, so we will move on to next week and hopefully we can have a solid night and win the championship”.
Lee Gill was not the only member of the Gill family on the track this week. Lee’s son Rylee debuted in the Rookie Sportsman class the previous week, and has already won his first feature event, taking the win at Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night. He won his heat race at Brockville and finished sixth in the main event.
This coming Saturday night, Lee Gill will return to Brockville Ontario Speedway looking to claim his fifth Brockville Speedway track title. In addition to the regular weekly championship, the first ever Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series championship is also on the line with a 50 lap main event to decide everything set for Saturday night.

Lee Gill’s Third Place Finish Helps Solidify His Quest For Fifth Brockville Speedway Championship; Two Weeks Remaining in Regular Season
Entering the evening with a 22 point advantage in the point standings at Brockville Speedway, Lee Gill was looking to continue his consistency and pad his point lead with just three races remaining in the battle for the track BOS championship.
After a fourth place finish in his qualifying heat race, Gill hit the track for the 30 lap main event from the 12th starting position. By lap six, Gill had survived a couple early caution periods, and was up to sixth place. By the time they reached the half way point of the race, Gill was up to fourth place and continued to move forward. A caution on lap 19 slowed the field and Lee would restart from the second position. Over the final 11 laps, he slipped to third, but more importantly, he added some valuable points to his lead with just two weeks remaining in the championship battle.
“It was a good points night for us”, says Gill. At this point, we are looking at the big picture. The wins would be nice, but the consistent finishes are what we need for the track title”.
Lee Gill’s son Rylee also made his Sportsman debut this weekend, racing at both Can Am Motorsports Park and Brockville Speedway this weekend. He finished third in the Novice Sportsman at Can Am, and sixth at Brockville in their Rookie Sportsman division.
This coming Saturday night, Lee Gill will return to Brockville Ontario Speedway looking to continue his strong season. Gill will be looking for his 3rd win of the year, and will be trying to add to his current 28 point lead in the battle for the 2013 Brockville Ontario Speedway Modified Track Championship.

Lee Gill Maintains BOS Points Lead After 6th Place Finish on Saturday Night; Four Weeks Remaining in Regular Season at Brockville Speedway
After a frustrating night the previous week, getting caught up in a late race incident involving Lee Gill and a couple other championship contenders, Gill was looking to get back on track this week at the BOS as they enter the final month of the 2013 regular season. Gill had his consecutive top 10 streak snapped with a disappointing 18th place finish as a result of the last lap crash.
After a tough start to the night in the qualifying heat race, Gill lined up for the feature from the 21st starting spot, and begin to move up through the pack. By lap nine he was inside the top 15 and made his way inside the top 10 just prior to the halfway point of the 30 lap event. Over the final 15 laps, Gill continued to move forward, and crossed the finish line with a sixth place finish.
“The car wasn’t too bad, but after having some problems in the qualifier we had to start really deep in the field for the feature”, explains Gill after the race. “It wasn’t the finish we had wanted coming in here tonight, but under the circumstances, we will take it and move on to next week”.
Despite the frustrations from last week that left the car with heavy damage and an 18th place finish, Gill remains at the top of the standings, looking to capture his fifth career Brockville Speedway championship. His last title came in 2003, making it four consecutive BOS championships at the time.
